This year's Alpha Course was launched with a Banquet at the end of September. Donna Matthews was our after-dinner speaker. Some 80 people enjoyed a great meal and our house band entertained us wonderfully. Our Alpha Course runs every Wednesday evening until mid December, starting with supper at 7pm. The Alpha Course is a practical introduction to the Christian faith. It provides a relaxed and informal opportunity for participants to make up their own minds about Christianity. We've been running Alpha courses in Totnes for some years now; and for many local people it's been their first contact with the Christian faith.
Food is an important part of Alpha; we start the evening course with a meal, and then there's a talk about some aspect of the Christian faith, after which we break into discussion groups. The good thing about the small groups is that we can say anything, express any point of view. Alpha positively welcomes everyone: people with no faith, some faith, as well as once-a-year church-goers.
