The Alpha Course is a practical introduction to the Christian faith. It provides a relaxed and informal opportunity for participants to make up their own minds about Christianity. We’ve been running Alpha courses in Totnes for some years now; and for many local people it’s been their first contact with the Christian faith.
Food is an important part of Alpha; we start the evening course with a meal and the daytime course with croissants and coffee. Then there’s a talk about some aspect of the Christian faith, after which we break into discussion groups. The good thing about the small groups is that we can say anything, express any point of view. Alpha positively welcomes everyone: people with no faith, some faith, as well as once-a-year church-goers.
Alpha 2009
The 2009 courses start on 30 September with an introductory Supper Party - food, music and an after dinner talk. Donna Matthews will describe her life in the music industry and talk about her Christian faith. Please ring us to book your place. You're very welcome to come along and see what it's all about! 7pm at Totnes United Free Church. There are then 2 options:
Evening Alpha
We meet on Wednesdays at 7pm. The course starts on Wednesday 7 October and finishes Wednesday 16 December.
Daytime Alpha
We meet on Wednesday mornings from 9.30 until 11.30.
